All Danced Out - Barn Owl, acrylic, 24 x 18 inches, 2008

SOLD

“I sketched and photographed this old barn in Saskatchewan almost 20 years before I painted it; all the while riding around in the back of my mind while I sorted out just how to present it. It was only after I tagged along with someone looking after nest boxes for Barn Owls in the Comox Valley that the ideas came together. The writing on the barn reflects the rural entertainment of years gone by. The barn’s better days are also evident in its faded red paint. It appears that the Barn Owl is leaving the party early to make its evening rounds in search for food; the wispy clouds echoing the owl’s wingtips. The barn itself, no longer in use for work or entertainment is also all danced out.”
